Enhancing Environmental Conservation with
Jefferson Land Trust
Jefferson Land Trust is a prominent organization dedicated to environmental conservation and stewardship. Their initiatives encompass land preservation, wildlife habitat protection, sustainable practices promotion, and environmental education. DEVtrust collaborated with Jefferson Land Trust to develop a dynamic website aimed at enhancing their online presence and outreach efforts. By integrating an interactive map powered by ArcGIS and Mapbox, DEVtrust provided a robust platform for Jefferson Land Trust to showcase their conservation properties effectively. This collaboration aimed to improve user engagement, facilitate property exploration, and amplify awareness of environmental initiatives.
Here are the challenges we encountered while developing the application.
JLT faced challenges in effectively showcasing their conservation properties to the public. Without a user-friendly platform, potential supporters and stakeholders had limited access to comprehensive information about available properties and their conservation statuses.
The existing website lacked interactive features that could engage visitors and provide immersive exploration of conservation properties. Due to this, user engagement and interest in specific properties were limited.
Integrating data from ArcGIS into the website and displaying it seamlessly posed technical and usability challenges. Ensuring accurate data representation and user-friendly interface required expertise in integrating and visualizing GIS data effectively for a diverse audience.
Users encountered difficulties in navigating through property information and accessing relevant details based on specific interests or categories. This hindered user satisfaction and engagement with the website’s content and resources.
DEVtrust implemented a comprehensive solution to address these challenges
We integrated an interactive map powered by ArcGIS and displayed using Mapbox on the WordPress website. 75+ property markers were added with hover and click functionalities, enabling users to explore each property's details and visit dedicated landing pages. Category filters were implemented to streamline property search and exploration.
We enhanced the website with interactive features to engage visitors effectively. Interactive map functionalities such as hover actions for property details and clickable links to property pages were integrated, improving user interaction and interest in conservation properties.
We ensured seamless integration and visualization of ArcGIS data for accurate representation on the website. Technical expertise in PHP and WordPress facilitated smooth data integration, providing users with real-time updates on property statuses and conservation efforts.
We implemented category filters and improved navigation to enhance user experience. Users can now easily filter properties based on categories like habitat type or conservation status, improving accessibility to relevant information and increasing user satisfaction.
The interactive map and enhanced website features boosted user engagement and property inquiries while reducing bounce rates. Real-time, accurate data and improved navigation increased user satisfaction and support for conservation efforts.
