Empowering Confidence Through Scaffolding and Emotional Coaching in Place Value Lessons

Introduction

The MVP platform was designed to address the emotional and cognitive challenges faced by neurodiverse students specifically those with ADHD when learning core GCSE math topics. This pilot lesson focused on the concept of Place Value, incorporating gamification, scaffolding, and emotional coaching to help learners build understanding and confidence.

Periodic prompts like “How are you feeling about this topic?” with options (Very Confident, Somewhat Confident, Not Confident) to track learner emotion.

Motivational messages, gentle encouragement after incorrect answers, and smart hints.

Gamification Features

Badges, XP gains, retry options with hints, and streak tracking to reward progress without pressure.

AI as Quiet Co-Pilot

AI-assisted lesson generation for teachers without direct interaction with students.
