Helping people for better food choices
NutriView is a nutrition app helps users to know about their meals with less effort. They don’t need to search for any food item manually, they can take a picture/choose from gallery for the meal they want to know from their phone.
The app uses AI to detect the food in the picture and provide details about its nutritional value. It shows information about calories, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. Users can also add their health conditions and personal goals so that the suggestions are better suited to them.
Let us suppose a person trying to lose weight needs different advice from person managing diabetes or high blood pressure. NutriView takes these differences into account when reviewing a meal.
Here are the challenges we encountered while developing the application.
People have their different health conditions and dietary goals. Some people are managing diabetes may need different guidance, some persons trying to lose weight or improve heart health. Standard nutrition advice may not work equally works for everyone.
DEVtrust implemented a comprehensive solution to address these challenges
Users use photo of their meal, and the application identifies the food in the image. They can also upload a photo from their gallery.
Users can share information about their health conditions, dietary preferences and goals. This gives NutriView more information when it prepares guidance.
The app looks at the meal alongside the user’s health information. If something may not be a good fit for the person’s condition or goal, NutriView brings it to their attention.
Users can analyze food immediately with their camera or select a meal photo from their gallery, depending on what is more convenient.
The application can suggest a healthier alternative or a more suitable portion. These suggestions are intended to be simple enough to use in everyday meals.
Taking a photo is quicker than entering a meal item by item. This removes much of the effort involved in keeping a food record.
Users can see about their food nutritional value and get idea of their eating habits over time.
Because the app considers the user’s profile, its recommendations can be connected to a particular health concern or personal goal.
Users can check a meal before deciding on preference of food, or review it afterward to understand whether it fits their needs.
